Up Loading Front page to WebCT

We need to build our site and make sure it is in a Folder. We can include all pages and documents we will be using including PowerPoint silide shows

Then we will compress our folder using a compression program into a Zip file

The compressed Zip file can be stored on your USB disk but we will up load it to WebCT

Once in WebCT we will Un-Zip the file and we can then view it

 

Special Notes

  • make sure all the docuemnts you want are in the same folder , that includes all of your images, word documents, PowerPoints and HTML pages
  • Your opening page must be be called index.html
  • Zipping is another name for compressing a file
  • Unzipping is decompressing a file
  1. Steps to Putting Your Web Page on WebCT
  2. Need MicroSoft FrontPage
  3. Need A Browser ( MS Internet Explorer or Mozilla)
  4. Need to use Windows Explorer
  5. Need to use a compression program
  6. Complete your Web page in MS FrontPage
    1. Make sure the links are working
    2. Images show up
    3. Attach your PowerPoint slide show (make sure it is in the same folder)
  7. Quit MS FrontPage
  8. use Windows Explorer to located your Web page folder
  9. Click to select the folder
  10. Right mouse click the folder
  11. Chose 'Zip to [your folder's name].zip"
  12. Watch as a file appears in the Windows Explorer directory
  13. Now open your browser and go to
  14. http://webct.vu.edu.au
  15. log in
  16. Navigate to the Web Publishing > Web Publishing Precinct
  17. In the list of names find your name
  18. Click on the Edit Files link
  19. On the right hand side of the screen is a list of commands
  20. Select Up load
  21. browse to your [folder name].zip
  22. Up load this ( may need to confirm this command)
  23. with zip file selected with little tick click on unzip
  24. confirm this
  25. your files should all appear
  26. click on Web Publishing in the bread crumbs list and they should al work
  27. Keep fingers crossed
