AWARDS

Vu Mai steals the show for Vic Uni Tafe. VU Mai was awarded the 'Tafe Student of the Year Award' at a ceremony at the Flinders Campus on 24 July 2006 attended by more than 300 people.

Vu flanked by his mum and HOD.

The Associate Director, Jacinta Richards, the Head of Department Sashi Mani and Program Manager, Susheel were present to witness the award.

Our big congratulations to Vu. Vu, while ecstatic for the award, he could not hide his amazement and thrill to be part of an audience and a ceremony beyond his expectations.

Vu arrived into Australia from Vietnam in 2003 with very little English. After studying ESL he joined the Adult VCE Program at VU in 2004 and completed his VCE in 2005 gaining an ENTER score of 92.5. Now, this is called goal setting! With little English, and that enter score in just two years is a great feat. This is no mean achievement. Well done. Vu is pursuing a degree in Biomedics at Melbourne University.

Behind these excellent results are the stalwarts of the Program - the teachers. Our sincere thanks to Marianne Montalti, Sujit Sen Gupta, Peter Newnham and Heather Lloyd who helped Vu to his goals.

Vu, listening keenly.
