ALRNNV organises conferences, seminars and workshops to promote research and good practive among adult literacy practitioners and researchers. Following is a listing of past events. Some papers from these conferences are also available online.

- Reading the Future
- Wednesday 16 April, VUT City Campus
Language and literacy teachers are being asked to change the way they think about their work as a result of changes in government policy. They are also having to develop new approaches to classroom practice as a result of the new technologies. The seminar was an opportunity for teachers to hear about these new policy directions as well as the way information technology is changing classroom practice.
Papers were presented by language and literacy researchers and teacher/researchers offering a range of topics related to policy and classroom practice.

The seminar represented a major activity for the ALRNNV for 1994. It aimed to demonstrate viable connections between the theory of research applied to evaluation, and the teaching practices of the ALBE field with specific reference to the Certificates of General Education for Adults (CGEA). Issues raised
