MATHEMATICAL MODEL

length (mm) v fibre length

( actual fibre distribution )

for a short mean fibre length distribution

as it would appear in the gilled sliver.
Before combing __normalized fibre length distribution.

After combing __normalized fibre length distribution ( exaggerated noil set )
Noil Set = 60

Apron Feed = 45

Feed Forward = 7
Length from the tip of the beard to a

point well within the gilled sliver. The distribution is purely due to fibre extraction by the apron and removal of fibre ends by withdrawing rollers.

__before circular combing

__after circular combing.
__Noil which can be expressed as a percentage of the gilled sliver.

This is the work in collaboration with Dr.Kirby who originated the Non selection function theory.

I extended this work and relate this work to the geometry of the comb and its cams. Work is ongoing.
