Dr Suzanne Broadbent is Course Coordinator of Master of Applied Science - Exercise Rehabilitation (HMER) & Graduate Diploma in Exercise for Rehabilitation (HGEX).

Dr Dan van der Westhuizen is Course Coordinator of the Master of Applied Science - Clinical Exercise Practice (AMCE) & Graduate Diploma in Exercise Science (HGXS).

Stream Coordinator of the Bachelor of Applied Science - Clinical Exercise Science (HBEM): this is VACANT until a replacement for Dr Lainie Cameron who has left the university is appointed.

17 Mar 10 Placement opportunity Enrolled students Placement opportunity for two 2nd year post-graduate students to train a client on a twice weekly, on-going basis at VU Footscray park campus. The initial assessment will involve Cybex testing to gain baseline data. The students will be required to follow the client's existing exercise plan designed by client's physio. The client's musculoskeletal condition is variable, so the students must act as case managers and monitor changes closely whilst developing a working relationship with the physio. 15 Mar 10 Project Officer Enrolled students Melissa Sbaraglia has started today as Project Officer working of getting our courses and programs accredited by ESSA. She will be working with VUER for the next 6 months. Melissa completed her Master of Applied Science - Exercise Rehabilitation (HMER) at Victoria University in 2009. Please note that Melissa is NOT the Clinical Practice Administrator even though she shares that office. We will make that appointment in a couple of weeks. Please do NOT ask for help from Melissa for clinical placements or any other aspect of your course. Welcome Melissa.

10 Mar 10 VUER Polo Shirts Enrolled students VUER unisex polo shirts are on sale at the VU bookstore, Footscray Park campus. All students who do not have a VUER polo shirt will need to purchase a new style polo shirt from the bookstore. While stocks last you may also purchase an older style polo shirt as a spare, for only $10. If you are a new student in 2010 you must purchase a new polo shirt to wear on clinical placements and this should also be worn to class. Please DO NOT make inquiries about polo shirts at L315 as all purchases are now done through the VU bookstore.

6 Mar 10 New job for an EP New graduates As previously advertised on 5th March 2010 in our What's New and Jobs sections, there will be a position for an EP advertised in the Age, Seek and www.uacvt.org.au/jobs, but this has now been delayed until next weekend.

05 Mar 10 Important dates for Semester 1, 2010 Enrolled students Case conferences: on all Monday (G368) & Tuesday (E124) afternoons during the academic semester commencing week 2 until week 11, between 16h00 and 17h00. Friday afternoon's session will be on 14th May in room M001, between 13h00-16h00.

Compulsory "work placement readiness" test (theory) for all students involved in fieldwork placements: to be administered on Monday, the 19 April, 2010, between 16h00-17h00 in room G368. All students need to pass this test with >60% in order to be allowed to do the practical test. All the applicable chapters to prepare for the theory test are uploaded and accessible for students under the Archived News 22/01/10 under What's New.

05 Mar 10 New Job for an EP New graduates There will be a position for an EP advertised from this weekend in the Age, Seek and www.uacvt.org.au/jobs. It is for two days per week, Monday and Wednesday at Elgin St Centre in the Day Therapy Programs. This job is open to EP graduates who qualify for ESSA accreditation only.

03 Mar 10 Paid placement! Enrolled students Excellent opportunity for one or two students to take up a paid placement with St Albans Senior Football Club. Please refer to advert previously posted on What's New Feb 2010. Bill Dawson will be conducting the try-outs for this position. Those with or without a background in football are all welcome to apply. Some experience and knowledge about massage is essential. Timetabling have made an error including post-grad courses in this system which is only for the undergrad courses. 01 Mar 10 Clinical Practice Administrator Enrolled students Gina Mendoza vacated the position of Clinical Practice Administrator on 28 Feb 2010. She has now commenced her PhD at VU and so is not lost to VUER. Gina did an outstanding job over the time she was with VUER, with high levels of satisfaction both from students and clinical supervisors. She developed some excellent new placement opportunities, most notably with YMCA. VUER is in the process of appointing her successor. In the meantime, please do not request for help from Gina as she has moved on. Instead, if you have urgent queries or problems regarding your placements, please contact Professor Steve Selig.
