The first section following the introduction in a typical case study report is the 'statement of the problem' section.
The overall function of this section is to clarify for the reader what the problem is. Remember that case studies generally focus on 'siuational' problems called 'dilemmas' in which a path of action must be taken, but for which there is no one correct path. This section usually has parts: (1) definition of the problem; and (2) analysis of the problem.
The 'definition of the problem' part states in as clear terms as possible what the dilemma or siutaiton is.
The 'analysis of the problem' part usually lists the contributing factors of the problem - a list of all information that is relevant or necessary to understand the problem.
