Our research is based on years of experience working in the field as
practitioners. We have expertise both in
research and practice across the fields of counselling and therapy, child and
family wellness, group dynamics, industrial, organisational, and community
development, and health.
The Wellness Promotion Unit approach to
research is to collaborate with community stakeholders in defining their needs
and devising appropriate research methods and interventions. We believe in
taking into account the needs of the primary stakeholders of the project. We
have experience in forming partnerships with health care providers and consumers
and have established guidelines to ensure that stakeholders’ interests are
well represented throughout the process.
The focus of the Wellness Promotion Unit’s work is in applying a unique model of wellness to research practice. This orientation is supported by the latest research showing that proactive and empowering approaches are more effective, humanitarian and economical than remedial approaches. The Wellness Promotion Unit also promotes cross-cultural sensitivity and understanding.
