Student Information

This group is made up of staff from the School of Psychology and Social Work who share an interest in promoting community wellness, particularly within the local communities surrounding Victoria University. Staff bring together backgrounds in community mental health and related fields, with research and practice experience in areas such as suicide, adoption, depression, and community development.  The group's current focus is the refinement of a theoretical model of community wellness grounded in an applied setting, and the development of a tool to assess community wellness for application within a diverse socio-cultural community. This undertaking represents a significant development in (i) the conceptualisation of community wellness by shifting the focus away from a traditional, reactive model to a proactive, strengths-based framework, and (ii) the development of a range of culturally sensitive assessment tools to evaluate community wellness.
