the Legislation There are many aspects to the legislation that are important understand if we are to fully address out rights and responsibilities with respect to occupational Health and safety. The Occupational Health and Safety Acts, legislation, regulations and codes of practice are a Commonwealth government policy, designed to protect us. The Commonwealth and State departments of Industrial Relations, employers and Unions work in together to support the rights and responsibilities of employees and employers with regard to safety in the workplace. Safe work practices are outlined within the Worksafe site so that oganisations can refer to guidelines when establishing correct working procedures for the tasks within a specified job profile. There are risk assessment guidelines and Job Safety check sheets to use when defining how a job should be carried out safely in the workplace. The objectives of the act are detailed within the Worksafe site and also listed within the prescribed text. To build your knowledge, there are activities set within this text that your teacher will ask you to complete. You will be required to complete the recommended reading first then proceed to the activity to complete a WEBQUEST as part of your assessment. |
