6. Orientation Poem Contest . Orientation Poem Contest
The students who attend orientation on Thursday 24/2/05 where put into four teams and given a task to write a poem. Four Australian words were to be used in the poem. The words were:
DOWNUNDER
MELBOURNE
KOALA
G'DAY
The following poems are the creative effort of each group, and what a wonderful job they did!!! |
We went Downunder to see the Koala
After a long plane delay, the first thing
we heard was g'day
Melbourne is a great city and leaving
it will be a pity!
|
Melbourne is home where the koalas roam
I took out a huge loan
but here you really don't need a phone
Downunder is great
where everyone says g'day mate
and you don't have to worry about being late
|
Melbourne it's the place to be
and it's not far from the sea.
Everybody says g'day and drinks expresso
and it's kind of funny, I guess so
Eucalyptus tree is the koalas home
Downunder in the outback zone
We hope we won't lose and be last
but anyway we'll drink beer and have a blast
|
We live in the land downunder
where koala bears say g'day
You make them mad
and they will piss away
We live in the land downunder
Melbourne is the place to be
it is time to go to the beach
some sand and water is what I need to see! |
|
7. Fortnightly Quiz
A special prize will be given to the student who can answer (or guess the closest answer) the following:
There are 500 species of eucalyptus leaves in Australia. How many species does the koala feed on.
Email your answer to: sharon.boyd@vu.edu.au. The answer will be published in the next newsletter along with the winners name |
