4. Meet Your VU Education Abroad Team
In the next three newsletters we will feature our Education Abroad Team. This will help you to get to know us a little bit better. I'm first.....so here goes!

Name: Sharon Boyd
Position:
Advisor - Offshore Programs & Education Abroad

What do you enjoy most about your job?
Meeting people! Everyone is unique, and you can learn so from interaction and communication. Also, I like to be kept busy...and in my job I am certainly busy! I'd be incredibly bored if I didn't have enough to do.
Why do you like living in Melbourne?
I love living in Melbourne. I live in the Western suburbs of Melbourne, which is a very multicultural area and I enjoy the variety of people who live there. There is always something to see and do. It only takes me 15 minutes by car to get into the CBD so I can enjoy all of what that Melbourne has to offer.
What's your most favourite thing to do in Melbourne?
I don't have that much time on a weekend....however when I do, I like to go to Williamstown on a Sunday and look through the shops on the strand and have a cup of cappuccino from one of the may cafes. After that I catch the ferry across Port Phillip Bay to St Kilda where I browse the market stalls hoping to find a bargain or a treasure.
What's your favourite food?
I don't have takeaway food very often because I love to cook...I love food!!! Living in Australia and loving food is great due to the multicultural influences on our food. So my favourite food would be Indian, Mexican, Vietnamese, Chinese, or Italian depending on what's on my menu that evening. My favourite dessert is the Aussie "pavlova".
What's your favourite movie?
"A Destiny of Her Own".
You probably won't know the movie, and I believe that when it was released in other countries it was given another name. It is based on the true story of Veronica Franco - a courtesan and poet who lived during the 7th century in Venice. The movie showcased Venice beautifully, making me want to put Venice down as a place I must visit.

MESSAGE TO MY CO-WORKERS: Don't laugh!!! Your turn soon!

5. Competition
The answer to the last competition was "ALL OF THEM or 12" . We had two very quick people respond from our partner universities....Caroline Payant from Universidad de las Américas Puebla and Susanne Wessén School of Engineering
Jönköping University ....Congratulations!!

The first student to provide the correct answer was Kjetil Pederson - Congratulations - your prize is waiting for you to collect from the International Office at Footscray Park campus (ask for Theo - Theo has threatened to help himself if you don't collect your prize soon - so hurry!).

This Fortnight's Competition
Be the first person to email me with the correct answer and you will win a special prize:

QUESTION: While I was out driving in my car, I passed a motorist whose number plate was IXMNIZ. What is the motorist's profession?
ANSWER: email to sharon.boyd@vu.edu.au
