3. All Canada Day Report
Our "All Canada Day" was a huge success!! A special thanks to our Canadian student "Cameron Vipond" for all his great support at the information booth. Cameron you looked great! Loved the Canadian cap!!

4. What's on!
The Royal Melbourne show closes 26 September, so there's still plenty of time for you to go and experience this annual Melbourne event. For more information go to: Royal Melbourne Show

Unfortunately Victoria will not be represented in the AFL grand final (Saturday 26 September). This is a first....there has always been a Victorian team play in the grand final at the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground). The game will be telecast live on TV, so perhaps you can sit down at home, or your local pub, and watch an action packed game that generates a huge atmosphere. The AFL grand final has everybody talking! There's been a lot of AFL action in Federation Square this week including: live bands, football players, competitions etc. Hope you got involved!

A special congratulations to all athletes around the world who are competing in the Paralympics. You are an inspiration to all of us!

This Week's Birthdays
Lee turned ???? on Tuesday, Samantha turned ????? on Wednesday and Duygu turns ????? today Friday 24 September. Happy Birthday and best wishes to you all! Don't complain if you had a birthday and I missed it.....I need to know about it!!

The WINNER of the COMPETITION was "Monica Turner". Monica I have a prize for you - hopefully we'll catch up next Thursday at Footscray Park.

ANSWER: email to sharon.boyd@vu.edu.au

6. Email Reminder
Please remember to clear your emails on a regular basis. If you are over your allotted email quota - all messages to you bounces back to the sender. I know some of you are over the quota....and my emails are not getting through, so imagine how frustrating this would be for family, friends or your home university advisors....please clear unwanted mail.
7. International Student Lunch
The last International Student Lunch for 2004 will be held on Monday 4 October between 12.00 and 2.00pm on level 9 of the City Flinders campus. The lunch offers you an opportunity to mix and network with your academic and support staff. I will be there, and I hope that some of you can make it to represent Exchange and Study Abroad students 2004.
8. Samantha's Visit to America
It was great to catch up with some of you at the "Games Night". I will catch up with the rest of you after I return from my overseas United States trip on November 7th. I am leaving on 18 September and will be visiting with SUNY New Paltz, New Jersey State Consortium, Slippery Rock University, Virginia Tech, Florida International University, and East Carolina University. As you can see it will be a whirlwind of a trip.

I will be visiting with all international advisors and would be happy to pick up any small care package item from your family, if they get them to the appropriate office. Email me at samantha.thompson@vu.edu.au if you will take advantage of my offer.

In the meantime Margaret and Sharon will be in the office to answer any questions you may have. Enjoy your semester break and take some photo's for us!

Be well and safe.

Samantha
