FAREWELL FUNCTION REPORT
A Karaoke night was held on 8 June as a final farewell for all exchange and Study Abroad students returning home after having spent Semester 1, 2006 with us at Victoria University. Some of our outgoing semester 2, 2006 students also attended after their Pre-Departure session. A fun night was had by all!
We have some very talented singers out there (hmm, hmm) well.... if not talented...."highly entertaining". Special thanks again to Carlos who kicked off the karaoke in his usual "superstar" manner. Prizes were given out on the night and the lucky recipients were: Salvatore (alias Barbie) from Italy, Thomas from France, Deniz from Germany, Tracey from the USA, and Andria from Australia! There was a patriotic showdown between the American students and the Aussies, with the Americans singing "Born in the USA" and Aussies singing "Land DownUnder". For the first time ever Margaret, from Victoria Abroad, appeared on stage (Wendy you missed out on something special - if I hadn't been there I wouldn't have believed it!). Check out some photos of the night below:

Denis & Thomas (Winners),,.................,,Having fun!.............................Stop laughing at the talent!!.............Of course salva (Winner)
PHOTOSHOOT
Our 2006 photoshoot resulted in some great pictures. Many of the photos have have been featured in the 2007 course guides. Below is a sample of some of the photos that were not used for any of the course guides:

It was a fun couple of days! Thanks to all of you who participated!
BBQ PHOTOS
Just a reminder of what it is like in Melbourne during Summer! Most of you will be going home to sunny weather. You lucky people! These photos were taken at the Business and Law Exchange BBQ at Williamstown Beach earlier in the year:
VICTORIA ABROAD NAFSA VISIT
Wendy and Sharon, along with the Director International, Sally Hodgetts, attended the 2006 NAFSA Conference in Montreal last month. It was a fantastic opportunity to meet with staff from our partner universities who assist us placing our exchange students (both ways) on exchange or Study Abroad.
During the conference Sharon visited the city campus and Layola campus of Concordia University in Montreal (a new partner in 2006). After the conference, Sharon also took the opportunity to visit our other Canadian partners. A personal thank you is extended for the wonderful reception received at each of these universities: University of Ottawa (Line, Nicolas, and Isabelle), University of Windsor (Alan and Michelle), and the University of Western Ontario (Darwin, Tova, Wendy, Stephanie, and Rebecca).
VU TRANSCRIPTS
Your Semester 1, 2006 VU transcript will be send directly to your International Office at your home university. Please check with this office early August to see if your transcript has arrived. Your transcript results will be published 17/7/2006 and you can access your results, and print a copy of your transcript using MYVU. If you are still in Melbourne you can collect your transcripts free of charge between the following dates: 17 July - 21 August, 2006.
VU OUTGOING EXCHANGE STUDENTS
Victoria University has 77 Exchange students heading to overseas partners for Semester 2, 2006. Most of these students have already met up with students at VU from their host institution. You should be all very familiar with the "Aussie" accent by now. If you hear an Aussie accent back at your home university introduce yourself and tell them about your experience on exchange at VU.
FAREWELL AND SAFE TRAVELS
To all exchange and Study Abroad students heading home we wish you all the very best for your future endeavors. It was a pleasure having you study with us at Victoria University, and from the feedback we have received I know that you have all enjoyed studying with us and living in Melbourne. We know that most of you are traveling before you depart Australia, and we're sure that you will take home very happy memories with you. Good luck and safe travels!
WENDY'S NEW POSITION
Wendy Martinec has accepted a position as an International Student Advisor at the Footscray Park campus until April, 2007. Wendy will be assisting all VU international students (including exchange and Study Abroad) and will be available on campus five days a week. This will be of great benefit to all our new incoming students as Wendy is extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of Victoria University.
The Victoria Abroad team would like to wish Wendy all the best in her new position!

OUR SOCCEROOS!
It was amazing how much overseas support our soccer team had during their time at the World Cup. The Socceroos name was mentioned in much correspondence from incoming exchange students and overseas partners, especially from Germany. Australia is incredibly proud of the effort our team displayed, and we're sure they are going to do even better in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa!
