3. VU Exchange Students
Our applications recently closed for exchange to overseas partner universities for semester 1, 2006.
A good number of VU students have applied to study on exchange during this period.

Thank you to past and current exchange and Study Abroad incoming students for your assistance in promoting your universities to our students.

Some of the universities our students have chosen are:

.....Florida International University
.....East Carolina University
.....University of Windsor
.....University of Western Ontario
.....German Sports University
.....Universidad de la Americas
.....Universidad of Monterrey .......just to name a few!

We currently have representatives here from all the above universities.

Please contact us if you would like to get in touch with VU students who will be attending your university next year. It is a great help to our students to have a contact, and to see a familiar face, when they arrive at their host university.

We have received great feedback from VU students currently on exchange at partner universities. Below is a photo of James and Adrian who recently arrived at the University of Windsor in Canada.

4. School of Human Movement, Recreation and ....Performance Exchange Lunch
Margaret and I recently attended an exchange lunch held by staff from the School of Human Movement, Recreation and Performanc studies. It was a great opportunity to catch up with exchange and Study Abroad students who are currently studying in this area. Outgoing VU students who will going on exchange in 2006 were also in attendance. The lunch was held at the Cityscape restaurant - Footscray Park. The atmosphere was great, the food was fantastic and the company was very enjoyable.

Special thanks to Peter Kalmund who organised the lunch. The Victoria Abroad staff are very pleased to be included in the Human Development exchange functions. We appreciate the chance to catch up with all students in such an informal manner.

Thanks also to Richard Baka, Anne Binkley, Jo Zimmermann, and Phil Fernandes who do a great job with all the exchange and Study Abroad students.

5. US Visit
Wendy will be undertaking a quick visit to the USA during the next couple of weeks. As it is only a short visit she will be unable to visit all our exchange partners. If she is visiting your university she will inform your International Office that you are all having a great time with us in Melbourne.

6. Pre-Departure Sessions Volunteers
Victoria University, together with several Melbourne universities, is offering pre-departure sessions for the following countries:

.........UK .......
..........USA ....
..........Canada
..........Mexico.

Please contact (sharon.boyd@vu.edu.au) if you are from one of these countries and would like to volunteer to speak to students who will be going on exchange in 2006. Further information on these sessions will be provided on your response.

The numbers of students attending these sessions will range from anywhere between 30 to 100.

9.The Newsletter Competition
Congratulations to Alessandro (University of Udine - Italy) who was the first to submit a correct answer to the last newsletter competition. Alessandro's prize was a piece of yummy honey macadamia nut slice from the Footscray Park cafeteria - and he loved it!!
The question was:.If you multiply 2 by itself a thousand times, what will you get? The answer: Four - it doesn't matter how many times you do the sum, 2 x 2 will always equal 4!

THINKING TIME !

If you are the first person to reply to this question (with the correct answer) you will win a special prize. The winners name will be published in the next newsletter.

Question: What will you find in the centre of Paris, which can't be found in London or Milan?

Email your answer to sharon.boyd@vu.edu.au

We look forward to student contributions. Please forward materials if you have some interesting news or some photos you would like to share....
we would be please to include them in our newsletters.
